Essence
Serhii Tymoshenko (1881–1950) was a Ukrainian architect, educator, and public figure. During the 1920s he taught at the Ukrainian Husbandry Academy in Poděbrady and helped develop Ukrainian art education in Prague. Sources differ on the precise dates of his service as rector; these remain under archival review.

Education and Ukrainian architectural modernism
Serhii Tymoshenko graduated from the Institute of Civil Engineers in Saint Petersburg in 1906. His professional practice encompassed public and residential buildings and engagement with Ukrainian architectural traditions in the early twentieth century. The Internet Encyclopedia of Ukraine describes him as an advocate of a Ukrainian architectural style related to vernacular traditions and Ukrainian Baroque. This characterises an artistic direction; it does not mean that every project followed one style. [ST01; ST03]
Hospital, educational, administrative and residential buildings are mentioned in Kovel, Kyiv and Kharkiv. Inclusion in a list of works does not establish survival, an absence of alterations or public access. A building map requires checking each address, design year, implementation and present condition. [ST03; ST07]
Political and government activity, 1917–1921
During the Ukrainian Revolution, Tymoshenko participated in state administration, including the Ukrainian People's Republic's transport department. Following the liberation struggle's defeat, he emigrated. The Ukrainian Institute of National Memory discusses his participation in the Second Winter Campaign and award of the Symon Petliura Cross. These facts belong to his own biography; the architect must not be credited with leading every political structure in which he participated. [ST02; ST03]
The Ukrainian and Polish periods of his life involved unstable jurisdictions and political regimes. A geographical map must distinguish a settlement's historical state affiliation from modern borders; “Ukraine” as a cultural and geographical space does not always coincide with administrative boundaries of the 1920s and 1930s. [ST01]
The Lviv period: projects and professional circles
In 1921–1923 he worked in Lviv, including design circles associated with Ivan Levynskyi. Studies of interwar architecture regard this short period as significant for developing his principles of functionality, Ukrainian stylistics and professional design discipline. That assessment must be attributed to architectural historians, rather than presented as Tymoshenko's own quotation. [ST01; ST06]
Designs for Ukrainian churches, including in Volhynia, are attributed to him. Authorship of an individual church requires checking drawings and the building file. A sketch date, construction permit and completion date must be distinguished. [ST06; ST07]
Teaching in Poděbrady and organising engineering education
According to the Encyclopedia of Modern Ukraine, Tymoshenko lived in Czechoslovakia in 1924–1929, serving as docent, professor, dean and rector of the Ukrainian Husbandry Academy in Poděbrady. Some accounts describe election as docent in January 1923, with actual work beginning in 1924. The decision, start of teaching and residence period can therefore be distinguished. [ST01; ST07]
He taught architecture and building disciplines, including agricultural structures and sanitary engineering. The academy was a private polytechnic with three faculties; the Slavonic Library's T-UHA collection offers prospects for checking timetables and printed materials. The dossier provides no grounds to credit him with every structural solution in Poděbrady Castle (R0071): the historical building existed much earlier. [ST01; ST04; ST06]
The Ukrainian Studio of Plastic Arts in Prague
Tymoshenko co-founded and taught at Prague's Ukrainian Studio of Plastic Arts, extending emigrants' artistic education beyond strictly academic engineering training. The encyclopedia documents this connection; a 2018 study dates its establishment to 1927 and identifies collaboration with Dmytro Antonovych. [ST01; ST06]
The studio, academy and Spokii artistic circle in Warsaw were separate institutions. Database relationships should be co_founded, taught_at and participated_in_artistic_circle, with independent dates and organisational IDs following register checks. [ST06]
Poland, Volhynia and international activity
In 1930 he moved to what was then Poland and settled in Volhynia, designing civil and religious buildings and participating in politics. Sources associate his Lutsk work with dozens of projects, but the journalistic total of “about 400 buildings during his lifetime” has not been independently verified against a comprehensive catalogue. It must not enter the main card without an estimate label. [ST01; ST02]
After the Second World War, Tymoshenko moved to North America and continued professional and community activity. His biography's continental scope supports an Ukraine–Poland–Czechoslovakia–USA route, without implying visits to particular undocumented addresses. [ST03]
Personal relationships and the professional community
The Ukrainian Institute of National Memory specifically mentions friendship with Ivan Shovheniv (R0030). This is acceptable attributed secondary information, but friend_of_CONFIRMED requires letters, memoirs or other evidence of a mutual personal relationship. The available survey provides neither letter texts nor dates; cautious public wording is therefore “the Institute describes their relationship as friendly”. [ST02]
Ivanytskyi (R0031) and Shovheniv (R0030) were also his academy colleagues. Shared teaching activity establishes a professional network, rather than every personal relationship between them. [ST04]
The architect's legacy and attribution criteria
Tymoshenko matters to the site as an engineer who designed buildings in emigration, trained future specialists and influenced institutional development. A visual section should compare historical drawings with completed buildings; every image requires an identified archival collection, date, authorship and usage rights. Photographs of post-war reconstructions have different copyright from pre-war sketches. [ST06]

Evidence coverage
Timeline claims assessed: 0 / 14. Claims with verified contradictions: 0.
The score measures coverage of timeline claims by verified sources, not the probability of historical truth. One independent source gives a claim 0.5 points; two or more give 1 point. A disputed claim receives 0. Unassessed claims remain in the denominator.
