Bridges of memory
About the project
“Česko × Ukrajina” is an open trilingual atlas of the ties between two nations: people, events, places, organisations, projects and works from the Middle Ages to today.
How it works
Every subject has its own dossier: essence, timeline, connections and numbered sources. Dossiers are plain text files in one folder; the site reads them directly, so every correction is visible at once and has a change history.
Two banks
The “River of time” shows two currents: Ukrainians in Czechia and Czechs in Ukraine. Where a dossier is still missing, we say so openly and direct further research there.
Always with a source
The atlas tells stories of cooperation, culture, science, education and mutual support. Every news item has a primary source and a date. Uncertain points are marked as disputed; a hypothesis is never presented as fact.
An AI desk with a human at the end
Dossier texts, news scouting, translation and pre-sorting of feedback are done by AI — Claude models by Anthropic, matched to the difficulty of each task. Every quote is mechanically matched against the source page, and facts are checked by a different, independent model. New dossiers appear as “Draft”, and only a person can set the level “Confirmed by an editor”. All steps are described on the “How we verify” page.
Open data
All public dossiers are available as JSON: /api/open/dossiers.json. Atlas texts are CC BY 4.0; rights to sources belong to their owners.
