Identity and legal name
Pražský Majdan, z. s., is a Czech civic organisation that brought together activists supporting Ukraine during the Revolution of Dignity and the Russian–Ukrainian war. Its registered name is spelled Majdan; the Ukrainian «Празький Майдан» and Maidan in English-language material should be treated as language variants, rather than three legal entities. According to the public register, the organisation has registration number 03771253, legal form zapsaný spolek and registration date 11 February 2015. [PM01; PM02; PM03]
The organisation's own website meanwhile dates the beginning of civic activity to 2014. We distinguish movement_origin=2014 and registered_legal_entity=2015-02-11. This is essential to an accurate history of the civic movement: the legal register-entry date does not erase earlier volunteer actions, but neither does it prove that the registered entity existed before 2015. [PM01; PM03]
Euromaidan and initial civic action
According to the organisation's own account, activists joined in support of the Revolution of Dignity, democracy and Ukraine's European path. After Russian aggression began in 2014, the work encompassed public actions, information sharing, fundraising and assistance to people affected by war. The organisation's official website confirms these areas, but specific amounts of humanitarian aid require financial or independent reports. [PM01; PM04]
The website must show that civic action extends beyond the moment of legal registration. Known volunteer initiatives and actions should have event_date, initiator, organizer_registered_status, evidence_type and media_rights fields. This enables an honest chronology without retrospectively attributing every Ukrainian protest in Prague to the organisation. [PM01; PM03]
Old Town Square: a sustained public presence
The organisation gives 6 September 2014 as the beginning of regular actions on Staroměstské náměstí. Their principal aim is to inform residents and visitors about Ukraine, support human rights and conduct public advocacy. This story can be mapped as an event location, but the square must not mistakenly be marked as the organisation's legal address. [PM01; PM04]
The organisers' description mentions regular Sunday or Saturday gatherings and a long presence in central Prague. Phrases such as “for the twelfth consecutive year” are moving temporal markers, rather than timeless verification of event totals. A statistical chart requires an archive of posters, permits or police notifications by year. [PM01; PM04]
Registration and legal evolution, 2015–2023
Register aggregators displaying justice.cz data confirm the entry 11.02.2015, court file L 61897/MSPH and registration number 03771253. Public data record changes of registered address: Jabloňová 2929/30 in 2015–2016; Petrovická 220/1 in 2016–2023; and Táborská 372/36, Praha-Nusle from November 2023. This is registration history, rather than proof that visitors were actually received at every address. [PM02; PM03]
Legal reliability requires consulting the original current justice.cz extract, rather than treating a third-party register aggregator as an unchanging primary source. Historical leaders' names appear in the register, but personal contact addresses or birth dates should not enter the public atlas without necessity and a separate legal basis. [PM02; PM03]
Expansion into humanitarian assistance
According to its own account, Pražský Majdan has assisted Ukraine since 2014, including military personnel, medical workers and victims of war. After 24 February 2022, the organisation increased humanitarian and adaptation work with forcibly displaced Ukrainians in Czechia. Both areas, advocacy support and practical services, should be clearly presented without mixing financial figures from different years. [PM04; PM05]
Any quantitative claims — “this much raised”, “helped everyone” or “over N clients” — require verifiable reporting, dated accounts and a counting method. Official texts are valuable sources about intentions and declared activities, rather than independently audited outcomes. [PM04; PM06]
Ukrajinské centrum Nusle as a separate project
Ukrajinské centrum Nusle is a project presented on Pražský Majdan's website. It offers information and integration services, educational and leisure activities, counselling and assistance with documents, children's education, employment and adaptation. This is the separate canonical entity R0062, which cannot be equated with the entire R0061 association or the historical Nusle Town Hall building R0077. [PM05]
The distinction enables clear website relationships: operates_project(R0061→R0062); project_uses_public_building(R0062→R0077) only with confirmed material; and association_registered_at for the legal address. It also simplifies updates if visitor reception moves while the registration number and organisational history remain. [PM03; PM05]
Registered address and visitor reception
The official contact page clearly separates the registered office at Táborská 372/36 from the office and assistance centre at Táborská 500/30 (Nuselská radnice), both in Praha 4. Both addresses may therefore be correct simultaneously, but have different location_role values. Opening hours should always come from the current contact page, rather than being copied into static historical text as an eternal truth. [PM03]
This is also an important test of the project's mapping system: legal addresses must not become visitor directions, and a historical protest site must not be shown as an office. A services map should use a verified reception address and current confirmation of operation, while a historical atlas should use dated address snapshots. [PM03; PM05]
Cooperation and public communications
Prague has several Ukrainian civic organisations, including Ukrajinská iniciativa v ČR (R0059) and Sdružení Ukrajinců a příznivců Ukrajiny (R0060). Similar aims, use of the same language or participation in a joint event do not make them Pražský Majdan branches. The graph therefore gives these three organisations different canonical IDs, adding cooperation links only for specific joint projects and documents. [PM01; PM04]
A separate research strand concerns relationships with city authorities, charitable funds and foreign partners. The official website carries event news, but a systematic partner register requires a date, agreement status, contribution type and specific page evidence. Merely mentioning another organisation in a news item is not a legal partnership. [PM04; PM06]
From civic action to an urban institution
Pražský Majdan's history illustrates the transformation of civic mobilisation into an organisation with permanent service functions. It begins with urban protest in 2014, passes through formalisation in 2015, expands aid in 2022 and uses a multi-level network of contacts and centres. This is nevertheless a history of self-description and registers, rather than grounds for automatically claiming the greatest influence or exclusive representation of all Ukrainians in Czechia. [PM01; PM02; PM04]
The proposed editorial narrative allows switching between “Civic actions” and “Social infrastructure” layers. Each event has a source, city, exact date where available and independent verification status. This structure suits three languages and future updates from confirmed APIs or official websites.
