Vyshyvanka Day in Prague (21 May 2026)

Vyshyvanka Day у Празі: подія 21.05.2026 та ширша програма 21–24 травня · Vyshyvanka Day Praha: akce 21. 5. 2026 a širší program 21.–24. května · 2016–2026

Essence

Holešovická tržnice advertised Vyshyvanka Day on its Tržní náměstí for 21 May 2026, 11:00–22:00, with music, dance, workshops, a craft market and community activity. Its event notice names the Archetyp association and OPU as collaborators. The umbrella festival website additionally lists 21–24 May; this broader date range should not be mistaken for a four-day programme at the same square. The final delivered programme, venue footprint and media licensing have not been independently cleared.

The event and the festival format

R0109 primarily records the Prague event of 21 May 2026 at Tržní náměstí. The Vyshyvanka Day website also describes a wider programme from 21 to 24 May. These must be distinguished as local_event_date and festival_umbrella_window. The celebration's brand and its individual editions have different levels of identity. [V109-01; V109-02]

The symbolism of the embroidered shirt

The organisers present the embroidered shirt as a symbol of cultural identity, inheritance and community. This cultural significance supports educational content, but does not justify attributing every embroidery tradition to a single Prague event. More detailed technical claims about the craft must draw on separate ethnographic sources. [V109-01; V109-02]

Local Czech-Ukrainian history

The organisers' website says public Prague celebrations have taken place since 2016 and adopted the VYSHYVANKA FEST format in 2024. A brand's history is not a continuously verified history of every venue. Each year and location must have its own verified event date. [V109-02; V109-03]

21 May: the venue's official announcement

The Holešovická tržnice website dated the event to 21 May 2026, gave the hours as 11:00–22:00 and named Tržní náměstí as the location. This is a primary venue page describing the programme. In the absence of an independent report, it primarily documents an announcement, even though the page uses the past tense after the event date. [V109-01]

The wider programme of 21–24 May

The vyshyvankaday.cz website explicitly names 21, 22, 23 and 24 May 2026. Its programme loads only partly and the widget reports no events, so individual local activities cannot be assigned to particular days without another source. The CMS retains umbrella_date_range without invented session_id values. [V109-02]

Cultural and interactive activities

The Holešovická tržnice announcement promises concerts, choirs, dancing, workshops, civic presentations, a craft market and food offerings. This is an announced structure rather than a complete, verified record of what took place. A historical website should subsequently seek a retrospective programme report and photographs with independently confirmed dates. [V109-01]

Co-organisers and participants

The venue explicitly describes cooperation between Holešovická tržnice, the Archetyp association and Organizace pro pomoc uprchlíkům (OPU, Organisation for Aid to Refugees). Support from the Embassy of Ukraine and Český rozhlas Rádio Praha is listed separately. “Support” does not mean “co-organiser” or “rights holder”; each role requires a separate field. [V109-01]

The charitable mechanism

The venue's notice gives free admission while also mentioning voluntary donations to OPU. This is consistent: a ticket charge and a voluntary contribution are different mechanisms. OPU's market role is described as overseeing the craft section, rather than owning the festival. The financial report's date and actual sums have not been established. [V109-01]

Distinguishing other Prague events

Vyshyvanka Day is distinct from the Ukrainian Culture Festival on 16 August and the Měsíc Ukrajiny theatre series. Their thematic connection allows mutual recommendations on the website, but cannot establish a shared owner without a contract. The graph relationship relation_type=not_same_event remains a negative_guard. [V109-01; V109-02]
