Sdružení Ukrajinců a příznivců Ukrajiny · 1989–2026

Essence

Sdružení Ukrajinců a příznivců Ukrajiny (SUPU; company ID 00506605) continues an earlier Ukrainian association formed after 1989. A Czech academic study describes the separation of UIČR around 1994; they remain different legal entities. Historical activities include cultural events, support for the St Volodymyr choir and publishing in Ostrava. Its registered current contact is at Vocelova 602/3, Prague.

Name, legal entity and identifier

Sdružení Ukrajinců a příznivců Ukrajiny, z. s. (SUPU), is a civic association of Ukrainians and supporters of Ukraine in the Czech Republic. Its present legal identity is recorded in an official Czech registration notice under registration number 00506605. A register entry is more important for identity than a similar abbreviation or the same address as another association. [SU01; SU02]

SUPU must be distinguished from R0059 — Ukrajinská iniciativa v ČR, which has registration number 60448296. An academic study describes both organisations as independent, although their histories intersect. In the atlas, SUPU is neither a present-day version of UIČR's name nor its subsidiary, but a separate legal entity with its own stages of activity. [SU03; SU04]

Creation of the predecessor association around 1990

An aggregated Czech register gives the legal structure's inception date as 2 May 1990. A 2006 sociological study calls SUPU a continuation of the earlier Sdružení Ukrajinců v ČR, formed amid democratic changes after 1989. The legal date must be distinguished from an informal prehistory connected with the Ukrainian section of a civic movement. [SU02; SU03]

Locating the original founding statutes, registration application, assembly minutes and first leadership's membership is a priority for archival work. An aggregator does not replace an extract from the original file; the 1990 dating should be marked REGISTRY_AGGREGATE_ATTESTED, rather than an absolutely established date of the first informal gathering. [SU02]

Renaming and legal continuity

The scholarly study states that the older Sdružení Ukrajinců v ČR underwent a name change to Sdružení Ukrajinců a příznivců Ukrajiny, associated in the historical overview with approximately 1997. This question needs comparison with the original court file. Renaming does not automatically create a second independent historical organisation. [SU03]

Present registration materials also contain 1 January 2014, a date connected with changes to Czech civil legislation and the associations register system. It must not be presented as the association's actual founding year. The CMS needs origin_date, legal_form_conversion and renaming_date fields, each with its own source. [SU01; SU02]

Ukrajinská iniciativa's separation in 1994

Academic research on the Ukrainian minority in Czechia describes the emergence of the more active Ukrajinská iniciativa v ČR after some participants separated from the older association. Different parts of the study associate this process with 1994. For diaspora history, this is an example of institutional diversification, rather than an automatically confirmed personal conflict among all participants. [SU03]

The graph should represent R0059 → R0060 : historically_separated_from and a symmetrical not_same_legal_entity_as distinction. UIČR's logo should not be placed on SUPU's page without authorisation, nor should SUPU be credited with all Porohy materials after the editorial groups separated. [SU03; SU04]

Cultural events, language and community memory

The 2006 description lists SUPU's activities as cultural events, educational meetings, lectures, exhibitions, community gatherings and support for preserving Ukrainian traditions. The scholarly authors observed particular age characteristics of the association at the time; these reflect the situation in 2006, rather than an eternal characteristic of the organisation or its current members. [SU03]

On Prague's cultural map, these events must have documented dates and sources: a poster attests an announcement, a review or report attests implementation, and a photograph provides visual evidence if its date is established. Participants' private contact details from old documents must not be used without a legal basis. [SU03]

The Saint Volodymyr choir and religious musical tradition

The sociological study lists support for the Saint Volodymyr choir, which operated at Prague's Greek Catholic Church of Saint Clement, among SUPU's activities. It describes the choir through concerts of Byzantine-rite sacred music and sacred organ works; this is evidence of a particular historical period, rather than necessarily the choir's current membership. [SU03]

The graph structure distinguishes supports_choir, performs_at_church and venue_of_event. Archival programmes, repertoire lists and posters are needed to confirm each concert individually. The repertoire's religious character is no basis for assigning a particular denomination to the organisation or every member. [SU03]

Ostravská prosvita as a regional trace

The study mentions SUPU's regional branch in Ostrava and the periodical almanac Ostravská prosvita. This is a valuable opportunity to move beyond Prague and show Ukrainian cultural life in the Moravian-Silesian Region. The almanac must not be confused with the older Ukrainian Prosvita society without documented institutional continuity. [SU03]

A book register requires the first and last known issues, editorial board, printer, language of the texts and library copies. None of these details should be invented from the word “almanac” alone. We mark regional_publication_attested=YES and issue_inventory=OPEN. [SU03]

Historical addresses and a changing urban environment

The 2006 academic report gives the contact at that time as Moravská 9, Praha 2, P. O. box 155. A state list of minority organisations from 2011 also mentions Moravská 9. The present register entry places SUPU at Vocelova 602/3, Praha 2. These are three dated documentary snapshots, rather than one address used since 1990. [SU01; SU03; SU05]

The mapping layer can mark DNM's present building using its public address, but the old post-office box should not be geocoded as office premises. Furthermore, SUPU and UIČR sharing an address does not imply shared legal personality or accounting. [SU01; SU05]

Leadership and membership dynamics

The official registration notice of 2024 contains changes to governing bodies and mentions Olha Mandova. Such records help confirm a particular period of the bodies' work, but must not become an undated statement of “the leader today” if changes may have occurred since registration. [SU01]

Information about a civic association's membership numbers, composition, age structure and activity requires dated statistics. The academic description of 2006 is a historical snapshot, rather than contemporary demographic research. Editorial discipline is especially important here for living organisations and their participants. [SU03]
