Пласт — сучасна українська скаутська організація в Чехії · Plast – ukrajinská skautská organizace v ČR · 1921–2026
Essence
Plast Czechia is a contemporary Ukrainian scouting organisation that reports activities in Prague, Brno, and Ostrava. Local scouting was revived in 2014, with a new Plast group established on 26 April 2015. Its work includes youth education, outdoor programmes, and volunteering. This modern organisation must be distinguished from the interwar Ukrainian Plast groups and the Union of Ukrainian Plast Émigrés; legal succession has not been established.

Identification, legal scope and distinctions
Plast — a Ukrainian scouting organisation in Czechia; in Czech Plast – ukrajinská skautská organizace v ČR, z.s., in English Plast Czechia. In 2026, the official website gives IČO 19929307, the contact address Fingerova 2181/9, Praha 5 – Stodůlky, 158 00 and activity in three cities: Prague, Brno and Ostrava. These details come from the organisation's self-presentation; legal data must be checked separately against the Czech public register. [PL01]
Canonical R0049 describes the present-day organisational structure, rather than all historical Plast. The first interwar groups in Czechoslovakia remain R0047, and the Union of Ukrainian Émigré Scouts remains R0048. Historical continuity of methods and name does not equal proven legal continuity between institutions of the 1930s and today's Czech z.s. [PL02; PL03; PL04]
What Plast is and how it differs from a casual club
Plast is a Ukrainian educational scouting movement based on regular group activities, self-education, hiking, volunteering, leadership and shared responsibility. The present Czech organisation emphasises participation by children, young people and adults, with adults able to join as educators, organisers, instructors and volunteers. This description is attested by the organisation's own website, making it primary testimony to its current practice, rather than an independent assessment of effectiveness. [PL01]
The Česko × Ukrajina platform should present today's Plast as a system of regular non-formal education as well as a group holding cultural events. Verifiable material benefits from examples of its methods — weekly meetings, summer camps, work with nature, educator training and joint activities — distinguishing official plans from events actually held. [PL01; PL05]
Interwar history as context, rather than identity
Plast groups existed in Prague and Poděbrady in the early 1920s. A congress of the Union of Ukrainian Émigré Scouts took place in 1930, although scholarly and encyclopedia sources may date its organisational establishment to 1930 or 1931. This question belongs to R0047 and R0048 and remains a separate historical discrepancy. [PL03; PL04]
In a retrospective account of 2015, Plast.org states that uninterrupted operation of Plast groups in Prague could not be traced after the Second World War. This establishes neither the official dissolution of all Plast throughout Czechoslovakia nor the existence of the same legal entity in 2014. The editorial formulation is revival of a local tradition, while preserving separate historical entities. [PL02]
First steps towards revival in 2014
According to the central Plast website's report, an important episode in the revival took place on 19 June 2014 beside the Taras Shevchenko monument in Prague. During 2014, activities were organised with children from the Ukrainian Saturday school and participation in the Bethlehem Peace Light initiative took place. This information comes from the Plast movement and reflects its own institutional memory; original photographs and event calendars should be checked before publication. [PL02; PL06]
In this story the Shevchenko memorial is the location of an attested public event, rather than a registered headquarters or address for regular children's activities. This illustrates the correct event_held_at relationship, which must not be replaced by registered_at. [PL02]
The founding assembly of 2015
A training course for Ukrainian youth educators was held in Czechia on 25–26 April 2015, with mentors from other countries taking part. According to the Plast report, a new local Plast group was established on 26 April 2015, while a symbolic oath took place at the Taras Shevchenko monument on 25 April. This is an event marking the creation of a local group, rather than automatically the state registration date of today's z.s. [PL02]
The organisation's story can be told through educators, international support and teaching practice, but children's personal stories should appear only with written consent and attention to privacy. Publishing minors' names from an archival report is unnecessary for a cultural encyclopedia. [PL02]
Plast in Czechia after 2022
Many families arrived in Czechia following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. In March 2022, Plast information channels recorded resumed meetings for younger children and youth and assistance to new arrivals. The organisation's material also describes humanitarian and volunteer work. For the digital platform these are separate educational_activity and humanitarian_support areas, rather than grounds for claiming that every participant took part in every initiative. [PL07; PL08]
An important social function of today's groups is a circle of contacts for children studying and growing up in another language environment. Organisational descriptions of support may matter for a future “Contemporary Ukrainians in Czechia” section, but unverified personal accounts of trauma should not be copied from charity pages. [PL09]
Three cities, many ways to participate
The official website in 2026 names Prague, Brno and Ostrava. These locations are confirmed at the level of the organisation's own presentation; specific addresses of meetings or camps must not be published automatically. This is particularly relevant to children's event locations, which may change regularly. [PL01]
Separately, the international Plast.global website reports that the Prague group opened a new Plast year on 5 September 2026, and that Czech groups organised camp activities in summer 2026, including in Ostrava. A future website should distinguish these reports from a historical dossier without a specific current timeframe, using dated Event records with city and source, without details of private participants. [PL05]
Czech legal establishment and contact details
The current website gives the name Plast – ukrajinská skautská organizace v ČR, z.s. and IČO 19929307. The Prague contact address is an organisational detail, rather than automatic proof of where its clubhouse is located. These fields should be stored as registered_contact_address_self_reported until compared with the public register. [PL01]
In 2026, reports appeared of fundraising for a new clubhouse, with different campaigns mentioning Prague 3 and Prague 7. Without comparing dates, the nature of the premises and the campaigns themselves, no “single exact address marker” for the club can be created. This is not a historical contradiction concerning the founding date, but a question of current operational circumstances that may change faster than an encyclopedia. [PL09; PL10]
Cooperation, cultural events and value for the platform
Plast encourages practical familiarity with Ukrainian traditions through the scouting method and opportunities for interaction in Czech society. Reports from 2025 record a joint Spring Festival for Plast members from Czechia and Slovakia; other material from 2026 concerns camps and regular meetings. These examples allow positive cross-border cooperation to be shown without exaggerating its scale. [PL11; PL05]
Public organisation cards, a public calendar and an event archive are useful website functions. CMS verification must distinguish a legal source, Plast's own reports, an independent publication and consent to publish children's photographs. As this is an active organisation, editorial contact details need currency dates and separate updating procedures.
