Your steps
Where official changes are published
Rule number one: only follow sites where the authority that makes the change publishes it itself. The source map: - ipc.gov.cz — the Interior Ministry's Information Portal for Foreigners. The "Temporary protection" section, the "News" (Aktuality) section and the "Guides" pages. Registration dates, new conditions and moved offices appear here. - mv.gov.cz — the Interior Ministry's website: press releases and explanations (for example the 4 August 2026 notice about extending protection to 31 March 2028 and the new military-obligations condition). - up.gov.cz and mpsv.gov.cz — the Labour Office and the Ministry of Labour: rules on employment, benefits, courses, the minimum wage. - Health insurers' websites (VZP, VoZP, OZP, ZP MV ČR, ČPZP) — changes in insurance payment and premium amounts. - portal.gov.cz — the general public-administration portal; msmt.gov.cz — education.
Tip: bookmark 3–4 key pages (ipc.gov.cz/uk/aktualne/, your insurer, up.gov.cz) and skim the news once a week, say on Sunday evening. It takes five minutes and saves nerves.
Typical mistake: taking "latest news" from chats or YouTube channels that retell laws with errors. Treat them only as a signal that "something changed" and verify at the primary source.
Portal news (Ukrainian)Interior Ministry: extension to 2028 and new condition (4 Aug 2026)Public administration portal gov.czNews item or binding rule?
Not every message is a rule. Learn to tell them apart: - Draft, proposal, "being discussed", "planned" — not in force yet. For example the European Commission may propose a change, but it applies only after the Council of the EU adopts it and it is published in the Official Journal. - Adopted but not yet in force — an effective date is given. In the Interior Ministry's example the Council decision was published on 4 August 2026 and applies from 5 August 2026. Look for "from", "with effect from", "nabývá účinnosti". - In force — a law, a government decree, an official decision. The ipc.gov.cz site itself warns that its articles are not the complete text of Act No. 326/1999 on the residence of foreigners: they are explanation, not the law. In disputed cases the law and the Ministry's decision in your case have the last word.
Three questions for every news item: who published it (an authority or a retelling)? what is the date? does it say whom it affects? Example: the new military-obligations condition concerns applications submitted from 5 August 2026 and does not concern the extension of existing protection — only careful reading shows that.
Tip: keep a screenshot or PDF of the page with its date. If rules later change, you can show what you relied on.

Official channels come in several forms and availability depends on the authority. What you can reliably do: - Your user account on ipc.gov.cz. Many actions (registration for the extension, special long-term residence) require login with an electronic identity; individual results appear exactly there. Check the account on the days you expect an answer. For example the ZDP eligibility results appeared in accounts on 1 October 2026 at 8:00. - The e-mail address in your account and with your insurer. Enter an address you read daily, and update it when it changes. - Page news. Browse the "Aktuality" section (ipc.gov.cz/uk/aktualne/): it shows the latest publications with dates. - Social media and Telegram of institutions (for example the Integration Centre Prague, which runs a Telegram channel), but only as a supplement, not as a source.
It is not verified whether each of these sites offers an e-mail subscription — check the page footer or the contacts section. Tip: set a recurring phone reminder "Check ipc.gov.cz" once a week, and also a month and two weeks before known deadlines (see the calendar below).
Typical mistake: following anonymous channels "from the Ministry". Genuine channels are listed on official sites; unofficial ones may distort deadlines.
Portal news (Ukrainian)Integration Centre PragueLaunch of registration for special long-term residenceDeadline calendar: what is known as of 3 Nov 2026
Put these dates, verified on official pages, in your calendar: - 31 March 2027 — the end of the current protection period. Extension to 31 March 2028: online registration, then a visit to a Ministry office for a new sticker. The registration opening date still needs checking on ipc.gov.cz. - 1 October – 31 December 2026 — registration for special long-term residence (ZDP) for those who expressed interest in April 2026 and meet the conditions; the Ministry visit can be booked up to 31 December, so there is no need to rush on day one. The visit date can be changed only once. After biometrics the card must be collected within 60 days. - 3 working days — the deadline to report a new address (if you will live there more than 15 days). - 90 days — if your address is cancelled and you are registered at a Ministry office for more than 90 days, protection expires; 90 days is also the period within which a child should start school, and the state-paid insurance period (for protection granted from 11 Feb 2025). - 8 days — the deadline to tell your insurer about a change of payer.
Typical mistake: counting "from today" instead of from the date of the event. Tip: set reminders 30 and 7 days before a deadline, and verify each date on the authority's site — it can change.

Portal news (Ukrainian)Integration Centre PragueLaunch of registration for special long-term residenceWhich changes you must report and where
A temporary protection holder must report changes. The official section lists six categories: - a change of first or last name; - a change of address; - a change of foreign passport; - a change of marital status; - other changes; - loss, theft or damage of a document.
Each category has its own page on ipc.gov.cz with a form and deadlines. The only deadline checked directly today is the address one. If you move and will live at the new address for more than 15 days, report within three working days after the actual move (not before). No fee is charged. A late report may result in a fine.
Ways to submit: in person at a KACPU or Ministry office, by post, through a data box, by e-mail with a qualified electronic signature, or through an authorised representative. You need: your passport, proof of accommodation and the completed form (it can be filled in online, then printed and signed).
For the other categories, open the relevant subpage and read the deadline on the day you need it. Do not reconstruct it from memory or a chat. Tip: after every report keep the confirmation (post receipt, screenshot, a copy of the form).

Temporary protection conditions (Czech)Launch of registration for special long-term residenceChange of address: how and when to report itOZP: insurance for citizens of UkraineCheck once more before submitting
Before you submit a form or go to an office, run a short check: 1. Is this the current version of the guide? Open it on ipc.gov.cz on the day of submission; the "Guides" (Návody) pages contain videos and PDFs, but not always with a date. 2. Is the form meant for your category (address, passport, surname)? Do not use the first-application form "by analogy". 3. Do you have all documents: the passport (original), proof of accommodation, copies, a power of attorney if a representative acts? The accommodation owner's signature often has to be certified — read the requirements on the "Proof of accommodation" page. 4. Are the data right: surname in Latin letters, document number, address. 5. What will be your proof of submission? Keep the registration number, receipt, screenshot.
Typical mistakes: a hand-filled form that is illegible or written in Cyrillic (it must be in Latin block letters); a wrongly chosen visit date (it can be changed only once); rushing on day one.
Tip: if a chat advises "paying an intermediary" for a faster slot, it is a scam. Booking is free and the information is published by ipc.gov.cz. When in doubt, call the temporary protection information line: +420 974 801 802.
