The Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic participated in the EU4Health project “Joint Action on Global Health” (JA GHI), which ran from 1 September 2023 to 30 September 2026. It was initially planned for two years, but was later extended by one more year. The project aimed to strengthen the implementation of the EU Global Health Strategy, presented by the European Commission in November 2022. The French Ministry of Health coordinated JA GHI. The work involved 39 institutions from 24 countries: 22 EU member states, Norway and Ukraine. Together with Dutch counterparts, the Czech Ministry of Health led the work package “Exchange of information and knowledge between the EU and member states through contact points dealing with global health” (Brussels, the capitals of member states, Geneva and New York). Under this package, the Czech ministry prepared a SWOT analysis. It assessed the strengths and weaknesses of EU coordination in global health, as well as opportunities and challenges. The ministry also developed recommendations on the parameters of an IT tool used for such coordination. Together with Belgian colleagues, the Ministry of Health prepared an assessment of EU coordination ahead of the United Nations high-level meeting on noncommunicable diseases.
