On Thursday, November 5, 2026, a traditional memorial farewell was held at the cemetery on Strojnická Street for four people from Prague 7 who had no one to arrange their funeral. For the tenth consecutive year, the municipal district has continued a tradition begun in 2017 to ensure that even people without relatives or close ones have a dignified place of final rest. “A final farewell is an important part of human life, and everyone deserves for it to take place with dignity. Care for a person and respect for them should not end with their passing. However, not everyone has a family that could arrange their funeral, or their loved ones may not be able to organize a final farewell. It is precisely in such moments that it is important for the community to take on this role. We want every person who dies in Prague 7 to have their own place of final rest and for their life not to be forgotten,” said Prague 7 councillor Jakub Hurle. The municipal district’s grave at the cemetery on Strojnická Street also has a plaque with a QR code leading to a list of those buried there. This allows visitors to easily check whether someone they knew is buried there. Last year, for example, relatives of one of the deceased, whose urn was buried at the cemetery in 2024, came forward. The urn was later moved to a family grave.
